Dr. Erin George

Dr. George grew up in a northwest suburb of Chicago. She completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Illinois and obtained her DVM from Purdue University College of Veterinarian Medicine. Dr. George worked at a small animal general practice in Illinois for 6.5 years before moving to Georgia to be closer to family.  She opened Edgewater Animal Hospital in August 2022 with the vision of improving patient care, client education, and the veterinary clinic workplace. Dr. George enjoys all aspects of general practice, but her special interests include oncology, surgery, and preventative medicine.

Dr. George and her husband, Wade, share their home with two rescue dogs, Nemy & Annie. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and playing any competitive sports (her current favorites are volleyball, tennis, and softball).

Leah Parris - Practice Manager, CVPM, RVT, CCFP, HABc

Leah Parris - Practice Manager, CVPM, RVT, CCFP, HABc

Leah began her career in the veterinary field over over 15 years ago and has since studied animal science at Auburn University, obtained her state veterinary technician licensure and acquired the distinguished title of Certified Veterinary Practice Manager.  She has written multiple articles for veterinary publications and earned the prestigious Emerging Leader Scholarship awarded by the Veterinary Hospital Management Association in 2022.  She and her husband live in their newly built home on Lake Lanier with their toy poodle, Lily, and their yellow-belly-slider turtle, Sydney.  She is a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional to coach veterinary professionals achieve a better work/life balance and is currently working towards getting certified as personal trainer to further help others outside of the veterinary environment. Leah enjoys reading, strength training, trying new recipes and restaurants with her husband and, of course, spending time with her four legged family members.

Amber Smetana - Nurse, Office Manager

Amber Smetana brings with her over 20 years of animal care experience, including a history of professionally training horses and managing equestrian operations. As our Office Manager, Amber brings a wealth of passion for organization—helping ensure clients have extraordinary experiences while in our hospital. In her spare time, Amber propagates exotic plants and cares for her French Bulldogs.

Amanda Baker - Nurse

Amanda Baker has worked over four years in veterinary medicine as a nurse. Amanda is a fierce patient advocate and works hard to ensure all clients’ pets receive the best-possible care while in our hospital. Amanda currently resides in Roswell with her beagle, Callie and enjoys a good book! 

Yvette Adams - Receptionist

Yvette Adams - Receptionist

Yvette most recently worked 8 years as an Equine Operations Manager and prior to that, after graduating from KSU, she spent over 13 years teaching Physical Education.  Her true love has always been for animals.  She has owned everything from hamsters to horses, and everything in between.  Currently at home, she has a rescued and much loved Lab Mix senior named Asher.  In her spare time, she enjoys puzzles, board games, movies, Top Golf,  spending time with her family, and going to the beach-any beach!

Erica Carmalt - Receptionist

Erica brings Edgewater Animal Hospital over 15 years in professional and animal care settings. She resides in Cherokee county with her husband and rescue beagle mix, Rosie. She has always enjoyed working (and volunteering) with animals of all kinds. In her spare time, Erica enjoys nature and traveling—including volunteering to transport wildlife in need.
